For the love of Picks
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share some insights I’ve gained from my collection of guitar picks. Like many guitarists, I’ve spent years trying to find "the one," accumulating a variety of styles along the way. Recently, after seeing them just hidden away with my guitar supplies, I decided to put them all in a container and rotate through them constantly while playing/practicing, switching every once in a while.
This experiment led to a few realizations:
Don’t overthink it: They are all great in their own way. Each has a unique character, sound, and feel, and any of them could be "the one."
Play softer: Rotating picks encouraged me to play with a more relaxed grip. This has resulted in better dynamic control, cleaner playing, and improved precision and speed.
Adaptability: By using different picks, I’m learning how to achieve consistent performance regardless of the tool, which has been incredibly beneficial for my playing.
I don’t want to make this too long, but I’d love to help other enthusiasts. If you have questions about specific pick types (all I own are shown in the picture) or want comparisons to help with your next purchase, please ask away! I will answer as many questions as I can to help the community, and anyone going on Google trying to find info about them, hopefully, this thread helps!
