Are you still on paper, or gone digital? Safety paperwork handling

I just took over at a new site recently and inherited an office full of paper JSAs and inspections going back years. The site doesn't currently do anything with them unless there's an audit or investigation where we need the relevant JSA/permit.

For those of you still running paper for field documentation:

  • Are you scanning them in anywhere, or just storing them in a box for whatever timeline your company sets?
  • Does anyone actually pull metrics off them (completion rates, recurring hazards, missed PPE callouts)?
  • If you've gone digital, what convinced your leadership to make the switch?
  • If your site has made the choice to stay on paper what influenced that?

I'm hoping to clear out the office and (eventually) get out of sending all of this into the metaphorical ether after they get boxed. I'd like to at least extract some metrics from the paperwork and ideally go digital with time. Would love any feedback!

Messages from your barn?

I'm curious how often your barn messages you and what about? We were boarding at a place briefly before moving that would send us personal texts/pictures periodically letting us know he had been let out to pasture, fed, etc. and we really enjoyed it. We haven't found anywhere like that since and, while it's not a deal breaker, it was a nice peace of mind.

Has anyone had similar or if we just had a unique experience at our last barn. How often does your barn actually message you and what about typically?
