"A strict Go player and abusive husband kills his wife after she stops following his rules and decides to leave him. His excessive behaviour towards perfection will turn out to be his downfall."

[Yutaro as Go player Master Odagiri]

Well, this may seem sudden, but do you think you have a meticulous personality? Do you fold your toilet paper into a triangle? Do you align the corners of your books neatly on your shelves?

To be honest, this is the parody of the opening line of a certain episode of Furuhata Ninzaburo, but this time I'm going to tell a slightly different story related to that episode.

The theme is: what if the culprit in that episode had been the other way around?

This guy is SERIOUSLY AMAZING. He is a big fan of "Furuhata Ninzaburo" and in the last two years he has made some really good episodes, portraying all the characters ALL BY HIMSELF!

The episodes don't have excellent English subtitles, but I'm working on perfectioning them little by little. I'll let you know when I'll finish.

If you like the atmosphere of "Furuhata Ninzaburo", I really recommend you to give it a watch!

"Two gamers have decided to live together so they can play whenever they want to, but things get unpleasant when the two start arguing over a girl. The sudden appearance of a lost Furuhata Yuzaburo could stop a crime... or incentivise one."

If you've ever had the experience of doing something without any preparation, try to recall the result. I think most people probably didn't do well.

You need preparation and strategies beforehand for the actual event.

And there's one more thing you need...

Furuhata Yuzaburo S01E03 | "Some Things Can't Be Cut" | EPISODE DISCUSSION

Watch the episode on YouTube!

"Shota and Hiroya is a YouTube duo known for its pranks. Although they are usually very upbeat, recently conflict has arised in the duo. And when a sudden gift from a fan gives to one of the an idea for a potentially deadly prank..."

[Yutaro as YouTuber Hiroya]

Eh, here are three points to keep in mind when lying.

First, be as honest as possible.

Second, look at the nose of the other person and absolutely do not make eye contact.

Third, rather than say a full lie, try to make it as true as possible. Tell me, for example, what did you do last night? The answer is what you did the night before last.

This is what you should be doing when you're lying.

Conversely, it's much harder to notice when someone is lying to you. Therefore...

Watch the episode on YouTube!

"A trainer finds out his mistress just got engaged with another man, so he plans to kills her with one deadly exercise. All goes according to plan, but one zen casualty may disrupt his perfect crime."

[Yutaro as trainer Mizutani Mamoru]

Judging things based on only one characteristic is very dangerous.

For example, take this part of a photograph that I cropped. It's hard to understand what is represented in it. Can you see it? It's an ice pop eaten by Imaizumi-kun.

Next, what do you think this is? This is still Imaizumi-kun.

How about this one? This is...

Furuhata Yuzaburo S01E01 | "The Man I Admired Too Much" | EPISODE DISCUSSION

Watch the episode on YouTube!

"Imaizumi Shijiro is one of the worst detectives of his unit. He wants to quit, but suddenly a famous detective comes in asking for him: his name is Furuhata Yuzaburo. Together, the two will investigate on the accidental death of a famous mangaka. Will they be able to get to the truth?"

[Yutaro as mangaka's assistant Tsubokura]

Okay, today I'd like to talk about one kanji character.

The character for "person" is made up of two people supporting each other. Is that really true? Don't you think the people on this side are the ones who are truly suffering?

So I thought to myself: It's not that we support each other, but rather that there are people who support and people who are supported.

This was Furuhata Yuzaburo.

"Kisaragi" is a 2007 Japanese movie. The story revolves around five devoted fans of a late D-listed idol who gather around for a commemorative meeting, only to uncover surprising revelations about her suicide, leading them to question what they thought they knew.

The story is exceptionally well-structured and well-told, hilarious but endearing. All the characters have a sort of development by the end (including the one we will never meet), but my favourite character has to be "Snake", as he's the most positive and dumb of the bunch.

It's also all set in one location, with every scene portraying the outside world interestingly presented through a sort of saturated stop-motion.

Minor squibble: I would have preferred to not have the post-credits scene.

I would rate it 8/10!

You can watch the movie on Youtube, if you want.

"A hustler who gets in trouble with a gang boss in the port town of Sukago agrees to make good with the don by putting him in contact with a mysterious hitman -- an assassin the hustler has no idea how to contact. Instead, he hires an actor to play the role, though the thespian has no idea what he's getting into."

[Kôichi Satô as troubled third-rate actor Taiki Murata]

This is a very funny movie, although not very complicated : the plot is easy to follow, with lots of unexpected moments, and the characters are continuously put in ridiculous situations. As a comedy of misunderstandings, it works perfectly. The cast is also amazing, with lots of familiar faces!

It is a bit too long, but it ends with one of my favorite denouement ever!

"Junior High School Student Furuhata" (2008) | TV MOVIE DISCUSSION

Watch the TV movie on DailyMotion

"High school student Furuhata Ninzaburo and his best friend Mukojima open a detective agency and solve a variety of cases all of which are mysteriously connected to the cases of their favorite detective, Sherlock Holmes."

[Ryôsuke Yamada as young Furuhata Ninzaburo]

It's been a long time. How are you all doing? I'm doing well.

Well, everyone had a young age. Of course, I had it too. And everyone has someone who has been influenced. Of course, I have it too.

I have it now because I met that person. Even now, when I close my eyes, I can see his face behind my eyelids.

Let's close our eyes.

"Kyoko Kagami is a pen name for a pair of twin writers. After one sister kills the other, their technical advisor Furuhata investigates. His investigation is complicated by his feelings for the surviving sister."

[Nanako Matsushima as twin sisters Kaede and Momiji Ono]

I've lost count of the number of murderers I've arrested. Several women among them, each one attractive and each one somehow tragic.

This last murderer is especially beautiful and especially heart-breaking.

"Ichirô Suzuki, a baseball player obsessed with fair play, murders a man who was blackmailing his brother, who is none other than Furuhata's faithful friend Mukojima."

[Ichirô Suzuki as himself]

This episode's murderer is a fair-play kind of sportsman. Apart from killing people he knows right from wrong.

There's a baseball player about to enter the MLB in America who looks similar and even has the same name. But it's not the same guy.

Don't get them mixed up.

"Three successive presidents of the Horibe family company die in mysterious circumstances following the lyrics of a creepy nursery rhyme and all according to the plan made by an 11-year-old boy."

[Tatsuya Fujiwara as heir Otoya Horibe, Koji Ishizaka as master Kyosuke Tenma]

Happy New Year to you all. It's been a while, hasn't it?

This case involves a perfectly prepared murder. In my experience, this killer is the most ingenious I've ever met.

"An employee at a Japanese embassy in a South American country is kidnapped but Furuhata, who is there on holiday, begins suspecting that the man was killed by none other than the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador himself."

[Koshiro Matsumoto as Ambassador Takechi Mayuzumi]

It's been a while.

Now, this may seem sudden, but let's do a little Spanish.

"Gracias" is "Thank you".

"Adios" means "Goodbye".

"Un conac por favor" means "Please may I have a cognac".

And "Estas arrestado" is "You're under arrest".

"Saionji is taken hostage by SAZ. Meanwhile, a drop for the ransom is arranged and the money is given to the fake inspector but Furuhata insists on tagging along."

[Yosuke Eguchi as the new fake police inspector]

So far, out of all the criminals I have encountered, the one thing they have in common is that they don't resist arrest. They accept their guilt, and they confess willingly.

They still have their pride.

And this, too, makes me proud.

"A group calling themselves SAZ hack the Tokyo Subway and fake a hijacking demanding a 10,000,000 yen payout. To ensure the success of the mission, one of their members infiltrates the control room pretending to be a police inspector."

[Yosuke Saito as the fake police inspector]

We've been together now for five years. In that time we've seen many types of crimes.

Some were done on purpose, some by accident. But each time, there was a motive. So, in a sense, tonight's criminal is the most dangerous criminal of all: he treats murder as some sort of game.

It's a tough nut to crack.

"After a transfer flight delay, a put-upon ground staff worker at a small town airport has to deal with a family that has plenty of problems of their own."

[The late Yuko Takeuchi as the stressed staff worker who tries to not be involved with the family shenanigans]

This film is too good to be just a TV movie.

First, it's just one long shot, no hidden cuts. We truly follow a rich weird family stranded on an airport for almost two hours, and it doesn't feel tiring at all. Magical.

Second, the script is full of interesting characters and hilarious storyline. So many people are moving around, it's great when at the end everything comes together.

If you liked the previous recommendations, this is a must-watch!

"An archaeologist finds himself in a difficult position. After his mistress dies in the plane toilet, he has to pretend to be the co-pilot so that his wife (who is also on the plane) does not find out about his affair."

[Koji Tamaki as flight passenger Tai Shuzo]

I received a letter recently. It's from a viewer in Kumamoto Prefecture. Kawada-san.

"Furuhata keeps finding crimes during time off with his colleagues. It's so unrealistic. Is it going to improve, or will it keep going on like this?"

It will keep going on like this.

"After an accident put him in a wheelchair, a scientist's wife left him for his best friend. Now, he has a devious plan to kill him and frame her for the murder. Everyone falls for it except for Furuhata."

[Masaharu Fukuyama as scientist Gaku Horii]

In mystery fiction, there's a term called "armchair detective," which refers to a detective who solves a case solely through deduction without ever leaving their room.

In that sense, this story is about an "armchair murderer," a man who attempts to commit the perfect crime without ever stepping into the crime scene.

"A TV host murders her abusive Go player husband after he tries to turn her into an obedient housewife. However, her poor housekeeping skills prove to be her undoing."

[Misako Tanaka as Go player Sakura Odajima]

This is sudden, but may I ask: has anyone called you careless?

You leave drawers open after you've used them. You swallow all the seeds when eating grapes. You push jigsaw pieces together by force.

But it's not good to be too particular about things. Anda let me tell you something: even the most careless person can commit the perfect crime.

[Masachika Ichimura as conductor Nao Kuroigawa]

When I was a child, the scariest thing was the school music department.

With portraits of composers on the wall, each one looked scary. Bach, Chopin, Mendelssohn, and Beethoven. And the worst one was... Handel.

Even now, I don't know much about music. Maybe those pictures put me off.

I wonder if those pictures are still there. If they are then, teacher... hurry and take them down, please.
