This just happened to me in LaGuardia. I weighed my bag at one of those self service stations and it was exactly 50 lbs. Went to check my bag and it said 54 lbs!! I told the employee that I had just weighed it and he just shrugged and said it's overweight. I moved to the side to take some stuff out and I use one of the scales that the employees are not using to make sure I'm good. it says 47 lbs. perfect. I got back to the same employee and HIS scale says 51 lbs!! What in the world? I tell him to use the other scale next to his register and it's now 47 lbs. He starts to look guilty and is saying that it's really weird and a lot of "idks", so we go back to his scale so I can prove to him that his scale is off, but before he gets to weigh my bag again, the employee next to his presses some buttons on the first guy's screen, and I see a number 4 flash in the scale meter before it says 0 again - and he doesn't say anything at all. They weigh my bag and now it says 47 lbs. No sorry, no apology, no explanation, and he just says you're good to go and they put my bags on the belt. WTH!! They were adding a whole 4 lbs to my bag!! I had to shove the coat I took out to another bag that was at the brink of flying open and now I'm worried I'll get that bag back broken. But my question is how is this possible?? how are they able to just add 4 lbs to the scale and then just act like it was some weird system issue. I'm so disappointed wih this.
