LEGO SW minifigs - cracks & disappointings

I honestly dont even know if im overreacting anymore or if this hobby is just becoming painful.

I collect mostly LEGO Star Wars and recently noticed that 22 of my 54 minifigures have cracks on the back of their legs. All my minifigs were barely handled and mainly displayed on studs dioramas.

What makes it worse is that now im constantly paranoid every time I touch or pose a minifig. It completely kills the enjoyment and vibe of collecting when you start checking every side of legs, hands and torso under close light instead of appreciating the set.

I contacted LEGO support and they gave me a $25 gift card as compensation, which I appreciate to some extent, but honestly… it feels pretty meaningless considering:

  • the amount of damaged figures
  • how expensive LEGO Star Wars already is
  • and the fact that the official LEGO store prices are usually much higher than local retailers and this doesnt help at all honestly. (we know we dont get nice discounts in SW sets)

I know cracks happen and plastic ages, but i only recently started getting into LEGO and my “oldest” sets are only 14 months… seeing almost half my collection affected genuinely sucks. Especially because these arent random cheap figures — some are from expensive Star Wars sets.

Are other people still dealing with this in 2026?
And how do you even enjoy displaying minifigs anymore without becoming obsessive about cracks?
