I had my heart set on a gas strut window for my kitchen servery as the ticks the two major things I'm trying to achieve - uninterrupted views, but also able to open up to the deck for passing food and drink through. So far, I've approached two major window suppliers and they both say they've stopped making them.

One said it was too heavy and a safety risk, the other said gas struts often fail over time. I assumed you just service or re-gas the strut.

Is there a reason that they're not popular in Australia? Has anyone installed one - would love to hear your thoughts.
