How often do vocal teachers, coaches, health professionals deal with a client who actually has true vocal scarring?

Has anyone overcome true vocal scarring in their singing career? I see a lot of these other injuries and concerns but just about no coverage on scar tissue.

Does it get that hopeless or is it shameful to speak on?
