This might sound weird, but I feel like my mixes were actually better when I didn’t know as much.

Back then I wasn’t overthinking EQ, compression, stereo width, all that. I just did what sounded good.

Now I second-guess everything and end up with something that feels more “correct” but less alive.

Has anyone else gone through this?
Did you find a way to balance knowledge with intuition again?

started printing an insert thinking it’d be a quick job.

then realized i needed to tweak tolerances
then reprint one tray
then adjust another part
then suddenly i’m reorganizing the entire box layout

by the end of it i’ve used way more filament than planned, but at least everything fits perfectly now.

anyone else underestimate how much time these projects take?
