How do you get your puppy to stay calm during your work day?

My doberman puppy is now 13 weeks old and doing much better with lots of different things.

My new challenge is getting him to not need as regular attention and play during my work day. I am WFH for another month or so and know my bosses will only be so lenient with the regular longer breaks during the day to get some of his energy out.

I would like to be able to transition to long play (eventually walks when he gets all his vaccines) in the morning, a mid-length play in the middle of the day at lunch (I only get 24minutes of lunch break) and then play and such after work. If I can get him into this routine, when I go back to work in the office a few days a week I can hire someone to come and play/walk him in the middle of the day and know that he will be okay in between in the crate (intention is to eventually have him free roam the apartment or come to work with me - but he is ages from that point).

Tips and such are welcome. He is not great at settling outside of the crate, and working on setting outside the crate training needs to happen outside of work time since it takes more of my attention away from work than I can get away with.

He settles eventually in the crate, but I worry about damaging bonding relationships leaving him in there for ages (would love some reassurance). We are generally struggling a bit with bonding or him giving me his attention when distracted (hoping that will get better with age). He also doesn't stay sleeping for long stretches at the moment. He sleeps a lot, but definitely more in a 40 minutes awake and playing, and then 40 minutes sleeping (sometimes longer if I am really lucky).

His crate is currently in a different room from where I work, but he will outgrow that crate very soon and I will be forced to have him in the same room as me in the bigger crate as the room I work is the only room that crate fits (open plan apartment without a study). He doesn't settle as well in the bigger crate that is in the same room as me.
