Advice for the best lead
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for the best possible lead for my mechanical pencil setup and I’d love some advice from people who are genuinely obsessed with writing feel and precision.
My pencil is a rOtring 600 0.5mm, mainly used for:
- university notes
- precise writing with sharp edges and dark lines
What I’m searching for is:
- very dark graphite
- precise lines
- minimal smudging
- smooth but still controlled feedback
- premium feel on paper
- visually beautiful handwriting and diagrams
I care a LOT about the final look of the page. I want that “clean technical precision” aesthetic, not soft blurry writing.
I’m currently considering:
- Pentel Ain Stein (2B?)
- Uni Smudge-Proof (B?)
- maybe even 4B if it still keeps precision
For those who tried many leads:
What’s the absolute best lead for this type of use?
