Meet my nails’ best friend 🍃

My glass nail file with a leaf motif is one of my prized functional art pieces! I got it in a glass studio after watching a different artist blow a glass cup outside the studio of an artist’s collective!

I am wearing another of my polishes whose maker is no longer respected. I still want to use up the polish, and it’s one of my favorites. I intend to pan it before I buy another nude orange-y shimmer, otherwise I would have 2 gazillion dupes, and no closer to getting problematic polish makers out of my collection!

There are flecks of semi-precious stones in this polish as well as the shimmer, so I used two coats of quick-dry top coat, and it smoothed things out nicely!

I love this subreddit, and it’s lovely to share nail-related art with you lovely folks!❤️💅

Husband cut this short French bob for me on Friday

First time wearing this style! He used a feather Plier razor (I found a deal on an open-box one online! 🤩)

We used a hair cut video guide we found online. I was a French major, and I watched Amélie in high school French, so I have always adored Audrey Tatou’s look in that movie. This is clearly different than that for me, as it also makes me think of Daria’s friend Jane in the show Daria. I feel lovely!

Harem pants/romper I got at the Ren Faire yesterday!

I am resting while doing chores after a long weekend doing volunteering for a local bird sanctuary on Saturday and enjoying a Renaissance Faire on Sunday!

This romper/pants makes me feel like I’m wearing nothing at all!

Have a lovely haggy day!

One last ride for this mani! A deranged photo shoot of preparing my kilt for tomorrow’s Lochs and Lore Renaissance Faire

Last ride of this mani after volunteering at a Heron conservancy this morning - I kept shorties so I can be the crazy nail lady of my dreams at all times 💅🏻

Still using up this polish from a disgraced manufacturer, one of the “He Who Shall Not Be Named” brands I used to want more of, but now I just want to use up before I treat myself to a new bottle! ✌️

Show me your nails right now! Use goofy backdrops! Have a lovely Saturday night (maybe out on the town, I’ll be out on the town tomorrow!) 🎼🥁🎻🪉🪗

Enjoy your beautiful nails that you gave yourself because you care about yourself and making a little art in your life! 🎨

TLDR: I took a picture of my nails with my leather kilt straps that I just polished the leather on!?!???

Been listening to a lot of the Grateful Dead for the first time, and tried Cherry Garcia for the first time!

Wow, I had always slept on this because as I child I disliked the texture of maraschino cherries, but this is anything but!

It reminds me of the cherries I harvested with my husband and my friend’s family from their tree in their front yard. Lovely Lapin cherries. We made morning smoothies with them, and this treat is natural-feeling in the same way as those magnificent smoothies.

Peace and love to you all in Ben and Jerry’s land. May your pint taste extra wonderful this evening. ✌️

Hello wonderful hags! Hope you’re having fun being your lovely selves today! ✌️

I was lucky enough to get to witness a pre-convocation event of undergraduate minors all the way to PhD students at the end of this chapter of their studies! I listened to speakers in native languages I don’t speak (I have several languages in my back pocket, but Ojibwe isn’t one of them 😂) talk about living on reservations and the adversity they faced in hitting their higher education goals. Glad they spoke in English as well, or I’d have been toast. 😵😂

Image Transcription: A pasty white lady sits in a modern, angular upholstered chair at a university. She is wearing her husband’s olive-grey suit jacket open over her navy and black midi dress. Under the dress is a dirndl blouse with dark green cross-stitching on the collar. (this hag isn’t going to intentionally appropriate anyone else’s culture, she has her own German roots!)

For jewelry, she has two heirloom pieces from different grandmothers - the necklace has a jasper cabochon set in sterling silver with southwestern native motifs. The ring is several tumbled pieces of turquoise set in a flower shape in sterling silver.

She’s wearing navy tights of medium opacity, and black leather riding boots with silver buckles. She also has a black leather woven belt, and her trusty tan pebble leather everyday purse. She has her everyday wayfarer-styled tan and teal sunglasses on her head, which has a wavy mop of a razor bob haircut that her husband cut for her because they’re weirdos. 😂

Her water bottle is also in the shot, and the brands are covered by a souvenir wraparound sticker with scenes from Zion National Park.

Thank you all for enjoying fashion as a way to make yourself happier! You being happy makes this friggin’ messy world a better one to live in! I love you all!! ❤️❤️🌍

TLDR: Higher education is so friggin’ awesome and empowering!!! 📝

I seeded it first with micro clover (Trifolium repens), to help fight erosion and fix nitrogen. I know it’s not native for the area, but it was a good place to start! I had then over-seeded with wild violet (Viola sororia) in the shadier spots to help the native wild violets encroach upon the clover. I also planted Canada Anemone (Anemone canadensis) in the shadier spots, as it is native to the area. I only pull the tall and/or invasive “weeds” as they get in the way of me tending to my fruit trees/bushes, delicious feral chives, and my oyster/chestnut mushroom beds (hanging out, chillin’ in the back!)

Hubby and I are no-mow, major permaculture nerds, and wanted to avoid a monoculture lawn by allowing various native grasses, sedges, and short flowering vegetative growth. We kept the meadow for our home as small as possible and we leave the rest of the acreage to be wildlife habitat (while enjoying a forestry hobby of removing Japanese bush honeysuckle and tree of heaven). We planted a little pawpaw grove to hopefully bring back some native understory.

Fuck lawns, and grow what’s native! Peace, y’all.

PS: Our home is net zero, because I love the earth, yo.

On the edges of our short area, we have chaos gardens of whatever native flowering beauties are loved by the local birds, bees, and whatever else wants to live here (our neighbor sent us photos of our land once with a bobcat hanging around, for example!)

Instead of buying a new polish, let’s have an unhinged photo shoot while ironing after you found nice light across the room 🌞

(the iron is waiting for you on the other side of the room after you post this to Reddit, don’t worry!) 💆‍♀️

This is a brand that a lot of bad publicity came out for, and I felt really bummed because I had gotten myself really hyped! Instead of staying bummed about others’ choices, let’s celebrate our days and add a little fun.

Maybe take a goofy photo of your nails today? Maybe you’ll smile and it’ll make the day easier? Heck if I know, I’m making this up as I go!

TLDR: Careful with hot irons! I didn’t burn myself this time because I’m a “Pro”??!?

I am wearing my best attempt to make my comfy clothes feel fashionable enough that I could wear to feel as fancy as I want to! Who wouldn’t want to feel fancy and “fashionable” in their own unique way for a fun movie (about clothes!), that also suits visiting their library, and buying some more shorts at our local outdoor clothing Co-op store. My husband had ripped his old shorts while planting a Paw Paw tree grove with me!

At Cabela’s, a person with a clip board asked me if I wanted to sign a petition to keep boys out of girls’ sports - yeeeeeeeehaaaaaw I live in good ol’ red America. Sitting at Guitar Center while I’m thinking of the Ben Folds Five song Zac and Sara, feeling a lot of weirdness about my country, and tryna chill ouuuuuttttt.

Husband is featured showing his best Blue Steel before heading out for the day!

I’m currently being serenaded. Photo included.

Btw; I was in the target demographic when Devil Wears Prada first came out, and related heavily with Andy Sachs, and the movie was a beautiful catharsis about surviving in a changing world.

Still in the thick of the evening, a transcription will follow later!

TLDR: I love every hag and you are all so special and unique and beautiful, and I am happy that you exist. ☔️🌈
