How to overcome beginner's temperature struggles?
Hey guys, about a week ago or so, I got my Eight Sleep Pod Core, and while it’s been an interesting experience so far, I feel like I’m struggling a bit to reach a temperature setup that I’m really happy with.
Up until day 2, I’d been using my winter duvet, and I realised I think I was way too warm with it. So I switched to my summer duvet, which is much thinner. Instead of mainly relying on the bed to cool me down, I figured this would give me more flexibility and more opportunities for warming up if needed, especially since summer is almost here already.
Q: What's your strategy? Hot duvet and Eightsleep for cooling or the other way around?
Before getting the Pod, I was actually having a lot of issues with feeling like I was overheating in bed. Part of that may have been the duvet being too thick, but I also think it’s at least partly a stress response for me so with these changes, I’ve kind of managed to reach a stage where I’m no longer overheating, and I’m generally more comfortable and sleeping better overall. But I still haven’t really reached that “excellent sleep” moment yet. For example, now I sometimes wake up feeling a bit cold.
Currently, I have Autopilot set to +1 for bedtime, 0 for the middle of the night, and +1 for dawn. But I’m still a bit unsure how all of this actually works, and I feel like Eight Sleep doesn’t do the best job explaining it. I can see the dozens of micro-adjustments the bed makes, but I’m really struggling with the dawn temperature in particular. +2 feels a bit too warm, while +1 doesn’t quite feel warm enough.
I imagine it’s a journey, and it probably varies a lot between different people, environments, and even what type of bedding you use.
I am eventually planning on getting the Eight Sleep blanket, but I wanted to first give the Pod a proper try on its own and see what it’s capable of (also, from my understanding, you need to wait until your trial period ends before you can get the member discount, so I figured this was a good way to test the core product first and then decide later if I want the additional stuff).
That said, now I'm scared of having to go through yet another period of accommodation if I get the blanket and I can imagine that even switching duvets is complicated so I'd like to get somewhere where I'm happy with this thing and stick to it.
