Yes, I know Richard has like, HUNDREDS of unreleased songs and songs posted in other platforms, such as soundcloud. I intend to listen to these.
I always wanted to listen to all albums from some artist, but I never knew which one to start, and I started with Aphex Twin, I never heard about him until november 2025, I saw a lot of people talking about his music, saying how good it was, I was curious, and started with his main albuns.
Initially, I didn't like SAW 85-92. Yeah. I wasn't getting why people loved this artist so much, I appreciated Xtal and I, but the album wasn't mindblowing like I was expecting. Maybe Aphex Twin wasn't for me? Or maybe he was an overrated musician? But instead of giving up, I kept listening to his songs, going next to SAW volume II, and that was the best decision I could ever made about this subject.
There was a day where I was woken up with bad news: my dog died, she accidentally hanged herself with her own leash. My day was ruined in the first minute. I was really, really sad. Later that day during a car ride I decided to listen where I left off in SAW II, and was exactly in #3, aka Rhubarb. That song was so necessary for me in that moment to not only understand why people love Richard D. James' works, but a reminder that I was passing for a bad moment in my life, and it will pass. Rhubarb means that to me, is almost like I poured my heart out to the music and it comforted me back, saying that everything would be okay, I cried so much listening to this song. From that moment on I made sure to listen to everything Aphex Twin was offering to me.
I started appreciating every single album Richard made, and started liking SAW 85-92 more after listening to everything. Even though I needed to invest some time in liking his songs, it was worth it. If I didn't forced myself to listen in the beggining, I probably would never appreciate songs like Rhubarb, Stone In Focus, Petiatil Cx Htdui, Avril 14th, Bbydhyonchord, Nanou2, aisatsana [102], em2500 M253X, and much, MUCH, more this guy has to offer. It was MINDBLOWING when I found out that he had other pseudonyms like AFX and Polygon Window, I had a impression like "does this guy's songbook ever end???"
I'm so damn happy knowing that all the time I invested in this artist was worth it, now I got a single playlist with more than 100 songs that I consider the best from him.
Thanks Richard for helping me me overcome my dog's death. I hope Athena is resting in peace.
