I just got Taffy (male silky ringneck dove) and he hasn't vocalized yet. The breeder I got him from said that she hadn't noticed him vocalize before we got him as well. He seems fine, happy, and relaxed with his new mate, who constantly bow-coos at him, but he started squeaking recently. I can only describe the sound as the sound your nose makes when it's stuffy. He squeaked at Cocoa, his mate, and Cocoa got so excited that he talked to him! His little wings started shaking out of excitement! But I was just curious because I never noticed Cocoa squeak when I first got him and I'm wondering if maybe I got Cocoa older than when I got Taffy.

We're bringing home our new dove and he seems motion sick on the ride home. He's thrown up a few times. I want to be able to help him or at least know that he will be okay.
My dove, Cocoa, lost his mate not that long ago, so we are getting him a new mate in hopes that he will bond with him and be happy again. They are both males and his previous mate was a male as well. Both are Ringneck Doves. Cocoa is an 11 month old tangerine and the new dove is a 2 month old orange crested silky we are naming Taffy (because "Laughy" Taffy). How do I introduce Taffy to his new house, family, and to Cocoa?
Here's the list of treat options I've found. I would like to know which of these options are the best to give them a lot of. Exact maximum amounts of each of these treats to be precise. I don't want to overdo it while they're training. (He's a male if that effects anything)
Treats:
- Chopped unsalted peanuts
- safflower seeds
- unsalted sunflower hearts
- thistle seeds
- millet seeds
- amaranth seeds
- chopped unsalted cashews
- chopped unsalted pumpkin seeds
I was given these treats by the person I got my ringneck doves from and I was wondering, how much is too much? It looks like to me that these are not considered treats since at no point it says anything about portion control and it even wants me to put it in their food. We give them tons of these when they decide to hangout with us so they will want to stay to get more treats. It is working wonderfully but I was getting worried that I was giving them too much. Any advice on portion control for treats or information on these specific treats would be greatly appreciated!
