This has been a work in progress. But I think it’s perfect now. It sounds amazing. I put in 58/15 S pickups from a S2, the older ones that are amazing and made by G & B.
I don’t know what happened to the SE pickups but I think they are different now. No engraving on the back (G&B Pickups Company) anymore. Just a plain back plate with a model name sticker. They don’t sound as good. They all have a certain tone to them that I associate with SE pickups.
This thing with classic style pickups and coil tap is what this guitar always needed.
Tuners - Chrome Grover Tulip Keystones

I also changed the knob positions to what makes more sense to me. Bridge volume closest to bridge. Neck volume, the row below.

I like the SE Zach Myers (ZM3) and S2 Mira most. Both fixed bridge and 24.594” scale length.
I can’t see myself being interested in a core, but after looking, the Tremonti ST appeals most.
I have a S2 Standard 24 and SE ZM3 & CE 24 ST.
I bought it due to the finish and playability of it, and of course the price. It was priced $1100 CAD lower than a 2026 S2 Standard Satin goes for new.
I currently have a couple SE’s and had a Korean one around 15 years ago. This is the first American PRS I have touched. I fell in love with the look and feel, the same way I did with that Les Paul 12 years ago.
I’m going to take it apart now and clean it, check out its internals. I’m planning on dropping in an Alnico II swapped Dragon in the bridge and Gibson 61 in the neck right away and installing a treble bleed resistor and coil bleed resistors if they’re not already on the push/pull.
