If you’re reading this and feel behind, I hope it inspires you and helps you get moving!

A year ago my company switched to Fidelity for our 401k and with the change and me turning 55 last year, I got really serious about retirement and told my wife we BOTH need to.
My 401k was only at $381k, my wife and I finally became financially stable in the last year. Last year I maxed my 401k and Roth401k through work. Our only debt is our mortgage, we both opened Roth IRA accounts and maxed out 2025 and are working on doing it for 2026. We’re both maxing out our 401k this year as well. Our goal is to semi retire at 62, but no later than 65. My 401k is now at $520k after one year and I believe the compounding is really taking off. I’m probably still behind in the eyes of many but I feel I’m in a much better position than I was a year ago.

I really don’t know a lot about investing and honestly I’ve felt stupid and still do because I find it utterly confusing but I’m going to get this done and make it happen for myself and my family.
