We already have a bunch of variants from campaign and coop. Each factor could have a bunch of similar unit like all protoss have Zealot, Stalker and carrier. But everything in between get split. Terran will all have their precious MMM, but some of them get Goliath and Wraith, some get Viking and Banshee. And 1 zerg race get the zergling upgrade that allow them to jump to their target, the other get zergling speed.

Obviously this wont be balance at first, but why is balanced a thing that needed in an old game with nothing much to add? This could be a simple way to just spice thing up without that much effort from Microsoft.
