I know this is probably meant to sound bold and aspirational, but “Our mission is to create virtual worlds more meaningful than real life” feels like a pretty concerning message from a company whose players already struggle with debatably unhealthy levels of attachment and escapism.

EVE is amazing because it creates meaningful social experiences, friendships, conflict, stories, and communities. But positioning the game as something that should surpass real life feels like crossing a line philosophically, especially in a community where burnout, isolation, addiction, and mental health struggles are openly discussed.

“Meaningful alongside real life” is one thing. “More meaningful than real life” is another.

EDIT: I’ve been informed this has been the tagline for a decade. Ok great.
