This is their watering dish. They (local crows) left me a piece of red string on a key-ring in the inner corner of those wood beams a few weeks ago.

I dont want to seem impolite or ungrateful for their gift, so like, I'll still take it, but in your experience is it more likely they're just soaking this bone and intend to come back for it later? That seems more likely to me.
