If you're bored, try a coin show!

Today, I managed to go to a coin show. There was a lot of activity but I went with one goal in mind: upgrading a penny album I bought yesterday. The book is missing 1921-27 ("key dates", low mintage) and has some worn coins. I'm really happy with how things are progressing. It's inexpensive, most coins can be talked down to 50c or less and it's nice to talk to people in the hobby.

I was really happy to see them all affixed in their slots. The original owner would've been happy with the additions. I asked about DDR banknotes and coins, but no...lots of BRD though. But, the vendors there were interested in my stamp collection of the country so I got to yap a lot.

Unfortunately, many older coins like Canadian Quarters, 50c and Dollars before 1968 are almost prohibitively expensive considering the price of silver. I hope to get another Soviet coin set, in time but they are very uncommon here, the coin shows mostly deal in US, UK and Canadian stuff.

I also got a big medal celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Lenin Steelworks from the PRL. Interesting stuff, I'll probably hang it somewhere. Additionally, the last image is my first error coin, a 1974 clipped planchet. During the minting process, somehow it got bit my one of the machines and escaped QA.
