My manager approved a week-long leave without even asking the reason - didn't know this was possible

I used to work at a WITCH company where I had to beg for leaves if it was more than 1 day per month, because my manager would go on & on about billing loss, project leave limit being 5%/month and so on. About 6 months back, I got an opportunity at a product-based company in Bangalore and made the switch.

Now, there was a reason and I needed to take a week-long leave. When I approached my manager to discuss it, he simply said, "Sure, I'll approve it. Just remind me a week before so I can assign a backup." I was super surprised, I was expecting some level of back and forth, but he didn't even ask me the reason for the leave.
