Some Doubts on Soon-be-opened Buildings

Upon seeing posts relating to the Gateway and now the closure of Browns. I now have some doubts about these new buildings in relation to our student life here.

First of all, I feel like it SHOULD be a good thing that we have some new buildings after all, and they are going to replace somewhat criticized Evans Hall. But to me, Evans Hall wasn't that bad, except for the ventilation problem. It is designed to serve as both an academic and administrative building for students and professors.

And now looking at the Gateway, the design divides them into two separate spaces, as we know already that there's a restriction for undergraduates to access the upper part of the building, and all the offices and labs will be gated, so essentially, professors can't host OH in their offices as well.

Even then, what is up with Cal Dining to close Brown just because a new building is opening? I am assuming that there might be some what a Cafe opening as well, but will it be open at the same time as the building opens? Highly doubted it, given we have seen examples in Anchor House already.

To my surprise, neither of the pieces of information was publicly notified to all current students. So, are all these supposed to be unknown until the opening of the Gateway? To be fair, I just felt disappointed now, even though I am excited about the new buildings.

Are we going to see more of these coming in the next couple of weeks/months before the official opening? I guess we will find out.
