Hey all - hoping for some inside info/advice. Custom ordered my wife’s 2026 CLE53 middle of January and it should be leaving port in Germany this week or already en route according to dealer.
Have not spoken to dealer since Trump made his 25% tariff announcement on EU imports - due to start this week. We will not make it through customs on time. Was going to wait until the government gives a clear date when policy applies before reaching out to dealer for actual arrival date.
How do people think this will play out in our instance? We have no intention of paying the tariff or even a portion of it. Would rather walk away. Will we have any issue getting our deposit back? Nowhere did I see that it was non refundable. My assumption is they will push us towards inventory on the ground? Has MB given any direction on 2026 imports especially those already ordered? I realize they are most/all of the 2025 tariff increases. What a cluster.
