Hello, fellow travelers! I'll be in Zakynthos from July 28th-August 2nd this year. I need to get from Athens to Zakynthos but the flight options don't really work. My flight into Athens lands at 10:30 AM and the only flight to Zakynthos is later in the evening, like 7 PM. I'd like to get there earlier.
Bus is not an option either. The time tables are similar to flights so I would have to wait until 4 PM and that gets me into Kakynthos so late in the day.
Would you suggest driving to Kyllini port and taking the ferry with the car? I don't mind if parking could be a little challenging in Zakynthos. I've found multiple parking options around the hotel. I'm more concerned with driving out of athens. How bad is it driving from the airport to the port? Can you avoid the city? Any tips?
What about renting a taxi? Can that be a trusted, safe option? I've traveled the world and know some places have safer taxi than others.
Lastly, what about renting a car service? Any tips here? Any companies you would suggest over others?
