Blue painter's tape fixed my hatch noise a few weeks ago. It was a quick way to diagnose the solution, but as many pointed out, it's not very durable. The noise had NOT returned, but pics 1 and 2 show wear marks.

I replaced the blue tape with foil HVAC tape (pic 3). I wanted something silver like the latch so it would be mostly invisible (pic 4), at least from a distance. Hopefully it lasts. If not, then electrical or regular duct tape will do the job.
