Hi, I’m from NYC, this is my first time getting a speeding ticket and it’s an upstate one at that. I got nabbed on route 17 between the 65/55/65 zone where it’s downhill. Looking for some advice or clarification on how to proceed with pleading not guilty.
From what I’ve picked up, I should mail in the not guilty plea with the ticket, wait for a response in the mail, then ask for a reduction and hopefully me being from nyc they will allow me to handle it remotely. If I plead not guilty and they need me to still show up to court, I more likely than not won’t be able to as I have to return to nyc for work since I was just visiting Binghamton on some free time. Would that cause any issues? Would I have to hire someone to show up for me? Do I mail a letter asking for reduction/sob story with the ticket?
Is there anything else I should do or expect
