I-130 and I-485 Approved! (Marriage-based AOS)
Hey all! Thought I'd share our timeline. We are based in central Florida. We were assigned the Tampa, FL Field Office.
I'm a US Citizen, male. Met my soon-to-be-wife in early 2024. She is from Brazil!
We dated for one year, and we got married in Feb 2025. We welcomed a baby into the world later that year. =]
She entered the US legally via tourist Visa, but overstayed. She has no criminal record here or in Brazil.
We filed the following in March 2025 with the help of an immigration lawyer:
- My I-130, I-864
- Her I-485, I-764
- All filed concurrently
- Copious bonafide evidence - pics, docs showing we lived at the same address, car insurance together, bank accounts, etc.
In April 2025, we had our Biometrics appointment.
Fast forward to March 2026 (nearly a full year since Biometrics) - we received the notice to appear for an interview the last week of April! We appeared with much more bonafide evidence. They didn't ask for much (aside from all her IDs from Brazil and here in the US) - just our lease, tax returns together, and utility bills in her name. They did spend a lot of time on my I-864 info, as I had changed companies in the interim. I had my paystubs, offer letter, and a letter of intent to stay employed from my new company ready to go.
The officer was pleasant and enjoyed talking at our baby, who wanted to take all the attention from away from the interview. We were not separated, either. Entire interview was done together.
A few business days later (early May 2026), my petition and her application were approved! We are very excited to have the process over and done with. Just awaiting the physical green card.
