1978 Ford F350 Questions
I just purchased a 1978 F350 for $800, it has a 10-ft flatbed and a 460, I was told that the engine was rebuilt about 2,000 miles ago. It is in pretty rough condition, the truck runs really well, probably needs a new carb or a tuneup, drives fine, and there's no irreparable rust, but everything on the vehicle is totally worn out, and every single piece of trim, Chrome, and plastic on it pretty much needs to be replaced.
I want this to be my long term project for me and my son, and I don't want to restore the rig to stock, I love the idea of resto mods and am hoping to find a supplier of parts for the truck that update it to modern standards, led or halo lights, better lenses and fixtures, chrome trim, modern grill, modern dash etc, I was hoping someone could point me to a company, build walkthrough on YouTube, or something to help me find a supplier of parts and ideas for the truck.
The only real issue with the vehicle that keeps me from driving it comfortably at this point is that the rig runs really warm, 3/4 to 7/8 on the temp gauge, pretty consistently. I replaced the sending unit and the coolant looks totally clean, but I have heard this is just an issue with these older trucks, any advice for cooling the engine?
I appreciate any help or ideas for the truck I feel like it has good bones and that I got it for a pretty good price and am excited to transform the truck
