⚠️ +0% Job Growth Used to Signal a Recession Had Started
Zero job growth (year/year) despite +2.0% GDP growth in Q1 2026? That's a pretty weird combo. In almost every instance since the 1940s, +0% year/year employment growth meant a recession *had already started*. But, this might be the first time in history where the economy consistently grows while employment shrinks - a totally plausible outcome in the age of AI.
