“New steering rack” needed

I’m leasing a ‘25 Tiguan SE. Two weeks ago (two days before my wife’s due date, of course) I turn on my car to drive my wife to a doctors appointment and every light turns on the dash and I get the following messages and power steering seemed to go away. I wait a few, turn my car on and off again, and the issue went away except for the check engine light. I was able to take care of my wife and then get the car to the dealership where I’m leasing it from. The car has been in the shop for over two weeks. Roughly a week ago, I get the following text from the dealer (not even a call):

“We have performed all the testing they required us to do and they told us to order a new steering rack for your car. We have placed the order and at this time there no approximate ETA for the part to arrive. We have been told it could be a week or 2 possibly.”

Does this seem right to anyone? Hard to think a steering rack would cause this. I don’t feel comfortable stepping foot back in this car. It sounds like a lemon and I’m frustrated with the dealer for not communicating or answering my calls when I seek updates.
