I finished my first watch last week, skipping a lot of the side character stuff. I was pretty put off by how “extra” it is, having expected something more like SOTL. Didn’t even think I liked it during or upon finishing it.

But then afterward I could NOT stop thinking about it. Read some advice here to take it more as art and poetry than realism. Read some mind blowing fics. Read some analyses on certain episodes I’d taken details for granted in.

Started rewatching it last couple days, and now weirdly it’s hit me hard. Feel like I get it now, feeling a crazy amount of heartache over the Hannigram dynamic and some moments that hadn’t quite landed before. I am hook line and sinker, and being someone who’s usually stuck to much more simple wholesome stuff, am way out my usual element but I am loving it.

Nobody in my life would ever watch something like this, so I donno where to channel all this mind wracking and angst haha. I love having friends into the same thing at the same time to rant about these things with, so I am curious if anyone here is having the same kinda experience and wanna rant and rave (and maybe even rewatch) together? 🙂

I hope it doesn’t bum y’all out for me to say overall I didn’t really like the show for a variety of reasons (e.g. a whole lot of “that would never fucking happen”), BUT it must have done something right, because I have not stopped thinking about it ever since. I can’t quite figure out why, and it’s bugging me. None of my friends have any interest in even watching it, so I had to come talk to y’all here on Reddit haha. It might just be because Will Graham is a stunner, and all the pawing, but I wouldn’t think that’d be enough to have me so fascinated despite a bunch of things that really put me off about it?

Ultimately wondering if anyone else felt weirdly conflicted about this show and wants to talk about it lol.

Also holy cow there’s a lot of stunning artwork people have done for this show, never seen anything quite like it.
