Is it me or are people just different now?

I’m out and about a lot. Either on trails or in stores. I’m not threatening looking. When I cross paths with people I give a friendly smile of acknowledgement, maybe a slight head nod. 9 out of 10 folks don’t smile back or acknowledge me, just keep on.
