I've put DAB capable head units in a couple of my cars but I've never had much luck with it working well. Can't really find much info online.

My current car has a Pioneer stereo with a Halfords Auto leads film windscreen antenna. Worked alright on a couple stations but adding a dash cam made it very flakey and after adding a speaker amp it's basically useless.

My head unit can provide power to the antenna but the antenna has a separate power lead. Would connecting that up to 12v make any difference?

I've heard these film windscreen antennas are just a bit shit? Is there any better option?

I've driven a few vehicles with it built in as standard and it worked great.

Once my car is running properly again, and if I decide to keep it, I plan on doing a few more mods on it. There's no real power gains to be had but I'd like it to sound a little more dramatic when giving it some.

I mean little. I want a nicer more deeper throaty note to it. Not something obnoxiously loud but a bit theatrical when putting my foot down, if you get me. Should blend in when driving normally but more lively when driven more spiritedly.
