"It's a short term investment in your body" – Mzansi man tries to sell underwear chicken feet at a corner stall (Pelong Episode 6)
I just watched Episode 6 of Pelong and I haven't laughed this hard in months. 😂
Let me set the scene.
Sgidla takes a long walk to the corner stall. But before he gets there, he spots a random bypasser and decides to become an entrepreneur.
>
The customer asks where he got them.
>
The customer walks away. Sgidla's response?
>
Nobody buys. So he eventually makes it to the stall where Oroz (visibly in pain) is running the till and Tebatso is sitting there owing everyone money.
Sgidla pulls out the chicken feet and calls them an "investment."
Oroz is disgusted:
>
Sgidla's defense:
>
I have never heard anyone defend chicken feet like this. 💀
They negotiate from R70 down to R40. Oroz pays. Sgidla leaves.
Then the twist: The camera reveals Sgidla stole the chicken feet and hid them in his underwear before repackaging them to sell. 🤢
Meanwhile, Dumisani spots his old high school teacher.
>
He confronts the teacher. The teacher doesn't recognize him at first and offers him R20 thinking he's being robbed.
Dumisani takes off his hat:
>
Teacher:
>
That was the wrong thing to say.
Dumisani hits him with the hat and starts beating him:
>
Teacher:
>
Dumisani:
>
Then he really beats him up.
Other gold moments from this episode:
- Oroz refusing app payments: "Give me my money in cash so I can feel the power!"
- Lebogang asking for Tropical Vita flavour for the second time and Oroz still not having it
- Tebatso saying "We'll fix it" about everything
- Oroz telling Tebatso "Either I don't like it when my kids don't get the essential vitamins they need" (while selling expired snacks apparently)
This whole series captures corner stall culture perfectly. The chaos. The debt. The "fresh" goods that definitely aren't fresh. The random violence.

Question for you: Would you buy chicken feet from a man who just called them a "short term investment in your body"? Yes or no? (And be honest.)
