Hot Take: there are other Batman voices just as good as Kevin Conroy and at times even better.

Preface:
I love Batman as much as the next guy and so naturally I loved Kevin Conroy as Batman. For years I was like many of you that thought the only Batman is Kevin. I grew up loving BTAS, TNBA, Batman Beyond, JL, the Arkham Games, and the countless animated films that he starred in. And when he passed I was genuinely heart broken.

Now after years of reading more comics and watching more animated films, I’ve come to realize that although Kevin is top tier, there are other VAs that do great jobs as the character and sometimes exceed what he does.

Don’t get me wrong, he deserves the praise he gets but as the years go on, I feel a lot of fans are disingenuous about where sits among Batman VAs. Many just follow the hype and just want to sound agreeable.

His voice doesnt fit every Batman adaptation nor should it. He wouldn’t be a good TDKR Batman for instance. And His voice acting for The Killing Joke was subpar. And so on.

Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller, Roger Craig Smith all do great jobs as the character and deserve recognition. And there are times when there versions sound better for that version of Batman then Conroy.

(Jason O Mara sucks ass and I hate his Batman)

All that said, I still love Conroy as Batman and may he rest in peace.

EDIT: even if most are shitting on my take I just want to say I love reading every body’s opinion and I’m glad a dialogue was started about other great Batman VAs.
And a lot of you guys are funny too, especially the dude who said he wanted to hit me in the throat LMFAOO.

I just got finished reading Yellow for the 2nd time, and Blue for the first, and while both have hugeee similarities in tone and plot I find yellow much more emotionally impactful. I nearly cried at the end of yellow. While I like Blue it just didn’t resonate with me as much.

I’m not sure if it’s because I read Yellow before Blue, but I just couldn’t shake the feeling like this is the same story just with Spider-Man. Loebs daredevil narration is just so much more beautiful and poetic and his Spider-Man’s is more flat and redundant. Though I do love his characterization of all the characters in both stories.

And Sales artwork is just genius for both.

Thoughts??
