SG higher than indented

I started my first batch of mead yesterday and I intented to add 3.5 lb of honey for 1 gallon but my scale must have been off because I added quite a bit more than that. The SG was 1.142 which would ferment to around 18%. I pitched 5g of EC-1118 and I intend to ferment to dry. EC-1118 should be able to handle the final abv but I've now read some stuff that suggest a high starting gravity like mine can hurt the fermentation and typically people use step feeding once the abv passes 12% or something like that. I also added 4grams of DAP&Urea mix along with 2.8grams of boiled bread yeast.

Are there any steps I can take to account for this high SG without adding volume? Maybe I should skip aerating it or add additional yeast or nutrients at some point? I want to avoid adding volume because my fermentation vessel is pretty much maxed out and honestly 18%abv sounds like a good time.

If the fermentation does stall out before it's dry would it be too risky to bottle it without chemically stabilizing? Or could I trust that something in the 12-16% range could stabilize after a couple weeks of sitting?
