I’m hoping someone can explain or at least have an idea on what went on last night, because I can’t stop thinking about it and how weird it was and it just doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe it’s something a lot of people have experienced but I just want to get some outside perspective.
It’s going to be a little long so please bear with me.
I live out in the middle of nowhere in a really small town. There’s not much for anyone to do here except go to walmart. So my friends and I are always trying to look out for parties. No one in town throws them because the police usually always bust them. So when I heard there was a party last night I was trying to gather some friends to go but most of them were busy or had work. But it had been awhile since I’d gone to one I was very set on going. So I reached out to someone I had never really hung out with before, and they said they’d go.
The party was an hour and a half away which usually is a huge no for me, but I just didn’t care then. It was in a town neither of us had been to before and as we were approaching I definitely felt anxious that this was a bad idea going somewhere so far from home with someone I didn’t know very well. All really stupid decisions on my end, I admit.
When we get out, the vibe is immediately very strange. There were people shouting, this guy walking around kicking people out if they were under 18. And apart from that, I can’t really explain it but it was just weird. We should have left them but we didn’t. We walked into the backyard and there was a fire and a huge group of people so we walked over to them and it seemed like everyone knew each other. I felt very out of place and like I stuck out. Maybe I wasn’t but it felt like it. It was just very odd. Then this girl screams about cops, so my friend and I came back to my car and sat there and waited for them to leave because we were blocked in. Again, should have just left right then and there. But we came back out because I still wanted to stay since I drove so far. We ended up talking to this nice lady that said she knew the party host and yadda yadda and how people are going inside when they’re not supposed to. She seemed very nice so I stayed with her. My friend was trying to find some weed and he ended up asking her, and to our surprise she did.
She made us follow her into this garage and it was dark inside. There was a little closet in the corner with a rainbow light and there was this whole set up in there. They let us hit their bong and we went back outside. When we went back outside all the people had gone inside so we just came back into the garage. She and her husband were in there and he had a cart and was trying to get us to hit a blinker. I said no but he strangely kept persisting and asking me to keep hitting it. Then my strange vibes got even worse because why would this guy keep asking me to hit a blinker? I said no multiple times and I ended up saying I would take a little hit, and they let me. They had also offered us alcohol to which I declined because I had to drive us home. But we stayed in there after all of that and the girl was saying how we can’t go inside and people aren’t supposed to be inside. She said that when she went inside (about 40 minutes prior) that they were telling everyone to leave.
I thought that was strange how for 40 minutes everyone has been inside but being told to get out. It didn’t add up in my head. It was just weird how persistent these people were on making us hit their stuff or drink their alcohol. Usually people will offer it to me, and if I say no they back off. Or people are possessive and don’t want anyone to take their stuff. It was just weird and the people there were already weird. Her husband was talking to us too, saying all these stories that I knew was straight bullshit. I called him out on it, and the girl said he just talks a lot when he’s drunk. I asked if there were people outside and she said probably a few. So I walked out and there was no one, which sat so wrong with me. People were still inside, and whether the girl was lying or not, I was not going inside. So my friend and I left.
That is basically the story. What really gets me is the fact she randomly let us in there and didn’t just offer stuff to us, they wanted us to. And how she said she knew the hosts and that we weren’t supposed to go inside, I wonder if she was just straight lying for whatever reason. And just why were they so persistent?! Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know why they were like this? Are people usually like this or is this a rare experience? I just don’t know and it feels so weird.
