So I started working out back in 2013, but i have never stayed consistent.

I would go 2 to 3 months here and there, then I would lose focus and stop going for months, lose most of my gains, then basically start over, even though i know it isn't technically "starting over" with muscle memory.

At the end of 2025 I decided to stop being inconsistent and keep myself in the gym, even if I only went a couple days a week, had light sessions, etc.... Just anything other than just completely stopping for months at a time.

So since mid December, I haven't missed a week.. I have had weeks where I didn't go as much due to work, but I have kept my word to myself and kept at it.

The part that I'm currently dealing with and is starting to frustrate me, I am seeing zero physical progress in my appearance.

Just about all of my lifts have gone up dramatically, and I'm not sure if I've gained strength, or if that's just muscle memory kicking in and I'm just getting back to where I would have been had I not stopped going so many times before, even though most of my lifts are heavier than anything I had ever put up before.

I'm eating enough, though maybe protein intake could be a bit higher, it isn't so low that NOTHING should be happening.

My sleep also isn't perfect, but again, after months of working out, shouldn't I be seeing some kind of changes in body composition?

I'm posting a couple pics, first one from December, second from today, any help on what I could be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated!

If i were to go somewhere like the San joaquin river gorge, would i be able to raft all the way through to say, Staggs bridge for example?

Does the river stay clear and safe enough to be able to go all the way through like that?

Is it even legal?

I've always wanted to go down that river and just chill, just never been sure if it's even possible?
