An anti-inductive object is a hypothetical object that has a relationship with intelligence that is inverse of the normal. More specifically, the more intelligent the analysis of the object, the harder it is to understand. If such an object existed, it might have the following properties.

  1. Anti-inductive structure

Patterns that look meaningful at higher levels are fake. The more you try to generalize, the more wrong you get. Simple “just follow what you see” works better than abstraction.

  1. Overfitting traps

It contains lots of apparent structure, but most of it is noise. A more analytical mind builds complex models that fit the noise instead of the signal.

  1. Adversarial simplicity

The true rule is extremely simple, but surrounded by misleading complexity. People who search for deep explanations overshoot it.

  1. Self-referential paradoxes

Understanding requires stepping outside the system, but the system encourages you to stay inside it (like certain logical paradoxes).

  1. Cognitive bias amplification

It’s tuned to exploit things like pattern-seeking, confirmation bias, or desire for elegance.
