I talked to Scott Hansen of Tycho about BoC
A few days before BoC began their campaign of sending mysterious tapes and revealing their new album, I had the pleasure to go see Tycho live - it was an amazing show and if anyone here enjoys Scott’s music I highly recommend seeing them live. After his final set, he was meeting fans by the merch table and signing memorabilia. By a stroke of luck I managed to get an album signed by him and naturally I had to take the opportunity to ask him about Boards of Canada (he’s a huge BoC fan himself and he references them as a big influence). I asked him if he heard anything about them releasing new materials or if he was in touch with them at all, he responded with a “no” and commented on their mysterious nature. He made mention of them being reclusive from the spotlight and that they have kids, he also mentioned that he has a friend who knows both Mike and Marcus, however, which I found interesting. Lo and behold, a day or two passed after the show and people began receiving the tapes. I reflect on Scott and I’s conversation and can’t help but laugh because he seemed to believe that they may very well have never released new music again. Shout out to everyone who was at Tycho’s show, I saw quite a few people wearing their BoC shirts.
