This is strictly about only academics and related, for in-general i might make another post. This is subjective as there are different kind of courses in CSE and you being in the right type of course changes a lot of things.

Before joining the college: I was a guy who was genuinely interested in tech, not coding exactly but everything, u name it i probably i explore how it works. I had fairly good percentile(90, Gen Cat) and I was late for my admission so i had a few choices like Thapar, Amity, Parul, Reva, CU and Chitkara.

I spent a lot of time researching about these but time was running out and despite knowing the harsh reality of LPU, i still got admission, mainly because i thought i would get OJT in my 2nd year lol and shit ton of people, so maxx networking, but neither was the case.

When i arrived it was really hot and they treated us like shit, but since it was too hot and we already paid for flight and all and 10k was non-refundable, so i felt obliged to stay here. after 3 days i badly wanted to leave because nothing was working here the lifts, WiFi, cleaning, mobile network, no freedom to move, ground were always filled with no space to play. But i heard every other college is the same too, so i stayed back and from day 4 I started to prepare for internships and getting OJT, so i picked up C and perfected my core OS, DBMS, COD and Web dev(basic), I was way ahead of my class but i was so down and lonely by month 4 and winter started. Now i wanted to connect badly, but nobody is coming out of their rooms, no events, no senior interaction and everybody in the class was tired and sleepy. I was the popular kid in the class but my classmates were shit. I did join DSW to get social, but it was filled with corruption and exploitation.

1st Sem academics was trash, we were taught HTML/CSS/JS and python by cipherschools which was below basic and other subjects like physics, math, mechanical, intro to computing, soft-skills were shit too, boring af with no practical applications.

we were given only 10 days holidays after the 1st sem which i spent in hospital but was still learning

2nd Sem: Even worse, we were assigned 7 classes 6 days a week and the faculties were shittier with shittier syllabus and fucked up management. Subjects like ece and discrete math are really important but they will make you hate these sujects, why is there env chem subject and its treated like shit. we were introduced to C and DBMS, faculties completely spoiled the students here, we were forced to attend hackathons to get certification, which was just a way to loot our money.

*in between there were several event like catalyst which openly scammed students, 1k each without any justifcation

after 2nd sem they forced us to do a CDP which was also a scam and alumnis looted students by giving fake certificates.

in 3rd sem we were introduced to important cs fundamentals like OS, Networking, Computer organization, the faculties were fucked up, they had PhDs but acted like pure retards.
(*one might say its the same in every college, but how does a faculty not know what subject they are teaching and not even know a single student in class, and when put RMS they hunted each student and failed them in practicals)

We were also taught C++ and DSA in this semester which were kept online in the evening and they were a complete disaster as our faculty was changed 3 times and there was no sync since both were interdependent,
*(each semester sections change and there is not proper criteria for shuffling, so you get complete assholes in the class and by this sem all your friends will be gone, probably)

After this semester we have a month of holiday where i perfected my JS and advanced CSS and started learning Angular

4th Sem: We were supposed to choose a specialization, I chose full-stack because of the job market and we were introduced to the subjects like Angular, Node.js, Aptitude, Design and Analysis of algorithms(coursera), GenAi(coursera), Probablitiy and Stats. This sem was worse with even worse teacher who were overworked, our Node.js faculty had PhD in biology :cry and we were not allowed to give exams until our coursera certs are completed and they were a total waste of time.

after this were are forced to get either an summer internship or a certification from a org (this was a complete scam as the companies had collaborated with LPU and charged heavy for shitty fake certs), i did both internship as well as a cert.

5th Sem: This is where i was supposed to get a OJT but they didn't me have it, so i opted out of placements, they added bullshit syllabus of PHP, react, Theory of Computation, soft skills and the students who opted for placements got PEP classes, which my friends said more useless than normal classes. you are also introduced to minor courses and these are actually the worst subjects one can choose .By this sem every one of my was lonely to death and had no zest left in them to live life, i was still optimist though, by now i was part of 3 clubs, all of them rotted from top to bottom by mediocrity and being used as a tool by the management.

After 5th Sem we had 20 days of holiday which i spent on learning design and it helped me in the future.

6th Sem: Actually the worst semester overall. we were introduced to Laravel, worst part of softskills, industry ethics. this is where i felt that the course syllabus is afffecting me negatively.

after 6th sem we were given 2 months holiday again and we were supposed to choose multiple addtional courses but guess what they were never added lol. I did a few internships in these 2 months.

7th sem: we were introduced to Django, again a coursera course and you start working on capstone project(u have to get a good group else your whole world will get messed up cuz its 8 credits). By now all of the students should have started getting placed but none were, the one that went for internship were getting laid off due to stupid reasons, we were not selected for hackathons because of college tag.

after 7th sem we got a month of holiday, i spent this holiday on trips and exploring outside of campus

8th sem: you are added to a coursera course again, your capstone shit continues, you are given a new subject to present your new project called "comprehensive seminar" which is a pain in the ass. by now you would have lost all direction and only sales companies are coming for placements.

There is no exposure to industry, no events related to industry workflows or any of such.

The SCSE organizes career orientation sessions, but these will give you headache, they don't tell anything clearly, nor do they help you to ease your stress by giving exemptions or any such.

We were introduced to Edurev in our 6th sem, this is again a scam, you will not get any benefits apart from RPL until you have connections with the authorities.

You are not taught really important subjects like compiler design, and distributed systems. There is no spirit of research or academics, most probably your faculties know less than you, the free time that you were supposed to have is now consumed by bullshit coursera courses

It is so hard to find your group here, most probably you will the one who will start creating groups, but here are the main issues when it came finding people to spend time academically:

  1. No common space outside of class
  2. Classroom themselves are not at all well maintained, you will feel like you are in a cheap school
  3. You are forced to sill roll number wise
  4. No collaboration allowed, if you start talking then you will be called out, and most probably it would lead to a fight.
  5. Group projects are waste of time since you will not be given extra time and there is no space for discussion. The discussion room in the library is always occupied.
  6. there are no ice-breaking activities in class.
  7. After class you are less likely to spend time with your friends as you are forced to leave the blocks after 5
  8. After 5, each walkway will be blocked and all the benches are occupied, you will find yourself going back to the room.
  9. there is no common space to eat to talk things over
  10. you cannot go to other hostels
  11. very few good books in library and library is filled with YouTube worms who just skimp on apna college vomit

*(the sequence for webdev doesn't make any sense, you are taught html/css/js -> jquery, angular -> node.js> PHP -> Laravel -> Django, now that's some fucked up shit, and you are not introduced to new concepts here at all)

Your college life is gone to shit, with disintegrated groups and no common time and no common space, the very few hackathons that are organized are completely rigged, you will not get any reimbursed amount if you win somewhere, there is no meritocracy. You will always feel like you are the smartest one in class cuz there is no dialogue at all. There is zero alumni interaction, alumni mentorship exists on portal but there is zero presence. they will scam you by charging 2k of alumni portal registration.

The quality of peer is the worst, worst than any college i would say, pick any college from UP/Bihar/WB, most probably they would be having higher quality of students than here.

There are a whole other aspects as to why academic life at LPU is fucked up, I hope the comment threads below will add more.
