Are Premium action cameras still worth it for beginners

My nephew recently began dirt biking and I have been helping him to look for his first action camera. We browsed through a couple of options at first and in the end I honestly think the budget category is honestly a great place to begin from today.
A few years ago the quality difference was huge but with the technology leap, today some cheaper models are surprisingly usable.

When people ask for recommendations, the decisions turn into 4k, HDR, megapixels and I think they are important but far more important is video stabilization and obviously the premium models still win in of those areas plus also how they handle  low light situations but like for him he’s mostly working in the daytime and when we started to compare sample footage and specifications on Alibaba, the affordable ones seem good enough for most beginners, the video quality is clear with the video being stable so I discussed with him and we both felt like beginners should learn editing and shooting techniques first before jumping into premium gear because good lighting, editing and movement and composition can make a budget camera way better than expected

I think stabilization matters more than resolution in cheap action cameras

As someone who likes recording my outdoor activities, I think we have all broken our equipment a few times and it gets exhausting buying the same expensive equipment, after trying a few new entry level action cameras and gear compared to my old flagship ones, I think video stabilization matters way more than advertised resolution numbers.

Some cheaper cameras advertise crazy specs but shaky footage always ruins the experience much faster than lower resolution, at least for me. A decent 4k or 1080p camera with a stable picture looks way better than the usual "8k"marketing with shaky picture.

I noticed how many budget cameras looked strangely similar across brands and surprising enough they share the same hardware too which is kind of disappointing after comparing specifications from different cameras across Alibaba and Amazon and what surprised me is how a cheap camera has gyro stabilization yet popular brands remove it from their midrange as an excuse for you to purchase the flagships

Its interesting seeing how many identical sensors and near identical designs they all use underneath, but I'm wondering for people filming biking or travel clips, what features actually matter most to you?
