Hi reddit, I decided to come over to this thread since I had a few questions about winter sports. I'll be moving to Gothenburg from Montreal in august for a year to attend Chalmers University as part of an exchange program. Hockey is obviously a big part of my life at home, and it's pretty much what gets me through these tough canadian winters we get.
I was debating if I should bring my skates with me to Gothenburg for my exchange year. I know the city has a hockey team in the pro swedish league, so hockey must be a bit popular, right? Does the city have outdoor rinks that pop up during the winter for anyone to come play on? Or do local indoor ice rinks have open days where anyone can come play? Do they rent out skates or hockey equipment?
I'd also love to know more about the local team and if it's expensive to attend the pro games? And I saw my university has a team too, is uni sports a big thing too?
So yeah anything relating to hockey in Gothenburg would be really appreciated! Thanks!
