M, 66, athletic, not overweight, ex basketball player, still exercise regularly. I had an ablation on Jan 13 earlier this year. Prior to that I had low afib burden - 1 incident per year for the past 15 years. Doc recommended that I have a PFA ablation so I did. Turns out I have five pulmonary veins - most people have four. So this predisposes me to AFIB as there Is more area to be electrical active. My ablation was more extensive - had 95 applications, most people have 40- 70. My EP who is very highly regarded nationally tends to be more aggressive but I'm OK with that.

Off blood thinner safter 3 months, had ZIO patch that showed nothing significant. However, I still am having these ectopic runs and sometimes my vagus nerve (throat) feels weird during these runs (10 seconds) which was a feeling I had before I would go into AFIB. It's a bit disconcerting as I thought these runs would stop by now but maybe because I had a more extensive ablation? Thoughts - any experiences/insights out there. Causing a bit of anxiety.

So - I had pretty low afib burden (66 year old fit, athletic male - ex basketball player). Nevere had to be on meds - probably 1 to 2 episodes a year for past 10 years that would last 4 hours on average and resolved with pill in the pocket remedy Had an ablation on Jan 13th - turns out I have 5 pulmonary veins rather than 4. Apparently, approx 20 % of the population has this and probably made me more susceptible to getting AFIB So, my ablation doc who is very highly regarded was fairly aggressive as he saw more electrical activity and I had 95 applications (normal is around 40-60). He likes to be aggressive and I'm fine with that. So off blood thinners, had ZIO patch - all good - nothing out of the ordinary - some ectopic beats.

I'm still feeling some small runs of ectopic beats and have the familiar funny feeling in my throat which used to proceed an AFIB episode. But no AFIB. I'm about 3.5 post ablation and kind of bummed that I'm still having these runs as I thought they would subside by now. Thoughts? Thanks in advance Peeps!
