What are the top picks for Zihua beachfront stays/hotels?
Hi everyone!
My partner and I are planning a trip to Zihuatanejo and we’re looking for the best stays in the area.
For those who have stayed before, are there any specific spots you absolutely loved and recommend?
We want to stay right on the water but also be easily accessible to the Centro and restaurants for dinner without needing a taxi every night.
We prefer authentic gems rather than massive resorts.
Also, is 1 week in Zihua too long, or is 4-5 days the sweet spot?
Would love to hear your favorite picks and any insider tips!
Thanks
Hi everyone,
We are looking for an authentic, 1-week "Beach Bum" experience in a single location. We want to avoid "hop-on-hop-off" logistics and find a self-sufficient spot that will keep us content for 5-7 days. We will be flying from MEX to our beach destination.
Our Criteria: We want a beach town or a city area with a strong local soul. We want to experience local eateries where we can discover the streets, eat around, and enjoy the beach vibe and local neighborhood culture. We are looking for a compact, accessible area where we don't need to commute for food or discovery. We aren't looking for a surfing experience; our priority is a beautiful beach with clean, calm water where we can relax and avoid massive resorts or all-inclusive towers.
The Main Contenders: I would love to hear your thoughts on which of these specifically fits our 1-week stay:
The Big Question: Which of these would you recommend for an authentic 1-week stay? Additionally, are there any other beach destinations reachable by flight from Mexico City that fit these criteria? We want to ensure we choose a place worth staying in for a full week.
Thanks so much for the help! 🇲🇽✨
Hi everyone,
My husband and I are traveling to Mexico from May 22nd to June 4th. We land at MEX airport and want to head straight to the south for a beach holiday, finishing our last week in Mexico City.
Accessibility is key for us—we don’t want to deal with complicated logistics after we land. We are looking for a beach destination with easy and smooth transfers, whether it’s a short domestic flight or a reliable land transfer (bus/shuttle).
Part 1: The Beach Holiday (Seeking a "Beach Bum" vibe in the South)
We aren’t looking for a luxury or resort experience; we want a small beach town with a strong local vibe. We want something authentic, laid-back, and budget-friendly—no massive resorts or gated hotels.
We are looking for:
• Beautiful beach with clean water: A place where we can just "bum around" and relax.
• Walkable local eateries: Authentic food spots and small restaurants within walking distance. We don't want to rely on a car.
Part 2: Mexico City (The Second Half)
We’ll finish our trip in Mexico City. We want to skip day trips outside the city and spend the full week immersed in CDMX itself. What are your "must-dos," neighborhood gems, or street food spots that we shouldn't miss within the city?
Thanks so much for the help! 🇲🇽✨
P.S. We’ve heard about La Saladita and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. If anyone knows if these areas fit the small beach town description and how easy the transfer is from MEX, please let us know!
