Hi - we have a 6 year old kitty with heart disease (HCM). She was diagnosed 2 years ago and has been stable on furosemide since then with regular cardio checkups.
We just left for a 5 day trip this morning. In fact I am on the plane right now. We have a cat sitter who is also a vet tech who comes twice a day to care for her and give meds. She did her visit this morning and told me our cat lost a tooth while she was there. It was one of the pre molars behind the canine and she believes it’s from a resorptive lesion. She told me our cat ate normally after losing the tooth and seemed normal otherwise. I did not notice any unusual signs before we left. It was already known that our cat likely had some level of tooth issues but we never did a deep cleaning and then she was diagnosed with HCM and not sure it would be worth the risk to put her under at this point.
She has a visit scheduled with her regular vet on May 11th. We will definitely let them know what happened with the tooth and have them take a look at her mouth, but do I need to be concerned and cut our trip short to get back to her? I asked our sitter if we should be concerned about an infection developing but she didn’t think it would be an issue. Looking for some reassurance because it’s hard enough leaving her as it is and now I’m worrying myself sick on this flight right now. Thank you.
