New build going up next door. A mature redbud tree in my backyard is close to the property line, but is entirely in my yard.

When the crew dug along the property line, they cut the roots of the tree which caused it to fall into my yard. It fell into the power line running to my house and snapped the ground wire.

The power company came out to remove the tree, but is there any recourse with the construction company? When I spoke with them, all they said was “yeah, we’ve had some high winds.”
