So let me start with this: I hate the TOEFL test or the incentive behind it. I think it's ridiculous that people have to take tests that are so expensive just to prove they are fond of the English language. I can understand that it makes the lives of some people easier, but literally at the cost of others.
Some information about myself: I'm from Germany and have had English since elementary school and even had English as an intermediate course during my A-Levels and graduated with a mark of "-1". I do watch series and movies in English and was abroad for some time, where I only spoke English.
I had 7 days for my prep and bought one practice test with the flex tests. Which is the best thing you can get for the value.
Furthermore, I practiced for like 2 to 3 hours each day on the flex tests.
There are also free sample questions additionally on the browse test prep site.
Moreover, these resources helped me as well:
https://www.toeflresources.com
https://www.eapfoundation.com/vocab/academic/awllists/
https://goarno.io/blog/complete-the-words-practice-questions-with-answers-toefl-new-format/
https://www.youtube.com/@Toeflresources
https://www.youtube.com/@TSTPrep/videos (not so good as Toeflresources imo)
I did not use templates most of the time.
The practice tests at https://testready.ets.org/test-prep-library are the old tests and I would only partially recommend them.
I also used ChatGPT sometimes to practice speaking.
The test itself:
There were more questions than in the practice test I took (or it felt like it). I also had a shitty reading part with some texts about meteorology, where I missed some important words.
I also didn't suspect that the writing and speaking part would go that well because I make some grammar mistakes (spellcheck is saving my life), and I'm also not that confident in speaking about a random topic.
But eventually I only needed to surpass 95 points.
Hope it helps.
