Help identifying this grass, and ideas for a small, high-traffic nature strip
We are in SE Melbourne and live next to a strip of shops with a popular bottle-o, so we have a constant foot traffic on our nature strip 7 days a week from people parking outside. I'd love it to look better than it does but at a loss for what to do/plant. We're a subdivided block so our strip is tiny - pretty much just what you can see in the picture on the right. It gets sun maybe half the day and shade for the rest, and it's normally just weeds growing up around the telegraph pole (I just pulled them all out in this picture).
On the left of the image above you can see some clumps of grass that seem fairly hardy - can someone identify it? We don't have grass anywhere else on our property but this variety seems to be fairly slow-growing/low maintenance. I'm hoping we could achieve a more even coverage by sowing seeds. Otherwise, I'm open to any alternatives - ideally it'd be low-maintenance and suitable for high traffic - native would be a plus too.
FYI our council only allows plants and mulch on nature strips - no hard coverings or artificial grass. There also are keep-out zones for footpath, kerb and utility which pretty much rules out any proper garden bed planting.
