I recently bought the Jabra Evolve2 85 MS and honestly I don’t understand how this is considered a premium headset.
Main issues:
- Connection is unreliable even with the dongle
- The headset is too tight and quickly becomes uncomfortable
- The microphone sits extremely close to your face, which feels awkward and distracting
- Having to choose between USB-A and USB-C versions makes no sense at this price point – just include both
- ANC has effectively no impact in real use. I still clearly hear coworkers talking loudly and noise at home with no noticeable difference between on/off
- Linux support is basically non-existent. You get basic audio, but:
- Sound quality isn’t great to begin with
- As soon as the mic is active, audio quality drops significantly
- I’ve had multiple complaints that my voice sounds robotic / “tin can” / muffled
At this price point, the lack of proper cross-platform support is baffling. I regularly switch between Android, Windows, and Linux, and it feels like no real effort has been made beyond the narrow use case of supporting Microsoft Teams.
Overall, this feels like a very expensive headset with a lot of compromises. I’m honestly struggling to understand if this is just how it is, or if I’m missing something. Genuinely curious if others had the same experience, and especially if anyone has found fixes, tweaks, or workarounds that actually improve the situation. I feel like I have to make a post here, since the customer support experience has been worse than the headset itself, and it seems my only hope for improving this is the community.
Regardless, I would not recommend anyone to spend their own money on this. If my employer had provided it, I could look past some of these issues—but at this price, it’s hard to justify.
